Prospective de-notification

GBA PRESS RELEASE 19th Jan ’07: The Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) has already welcomed the reported statement of the Chief Minister that the Cabinet has unanimously decided to de-notify the Regional Plan 2011. However, the People of Goa require a clarification on the reported statement by the Chief Minister that the de-notification will take “prospective” effect.

The GBA would like to point out that the so-called “prospective” effect nullifies the effect of de-notification, as this would actually mean that all the irregularities that have been committed till date would stands regularized.

GBA reiterates its stand that the Notified RP 2011 is not a plan acceptable to the People of Goa as it has not included them in the process of planning and formulation.

Therefore the GBA insists that the RP 2011 has to be de-notified with retrospective effect i.e. from the date of notification which is 10th August, 2006.
If this is not done, the reported de-notification by the Chief Minister has no meaning for the People of Goa and the GBA will have no other choice but to continue with its agitation in the larger interest of Goa.
